About
I have been in the Fashion Design Industry for 2 decades with a focus on Outerwear, Activewear and Outdoor. My passions are ethical and sustainable fashion, technology and functional design. I love to "design with purpose".
Of course my career would be nothing without my team! I have been focusing my continuing education programming on mentorship and management. I believe in creating a nurturing environment that allows junior staff as well as peers to flourish and grow! Seeing your garments come to life is absolutely amazing, but, aiding team members to their goals has led me to some of my proudest moments.
In addition to my current role, I am heavily involved in creating an inclusive community based workplace. I have played a large role in the Centric Brands DE&I Committee. I had the privilege to act as Co-Chair and ran an internal magazine that educates, celebrates and advocates for Cultural Diversity. I am also a member of the Be Green Committee and a member of Centric’s Latin ERG where I get to celebrate my Puerto Rican roots on my maternal side. I am also a member of the Centric Run+ Club and Bookclub.
My passions outside of design are mostly active based. I am into dance, running, yoga, kickboxing, pilates, and hiking. I am obsessed with my two dogs who accompany me on many of my outdoor adventures. I am also strict vegan who loves to cook and entertain. My other love is gardening! I am currently working my through the Horticulture Certificate at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Socially, I believe in giving back to the community and making the world a better place. I was an adult caretaker for 8 years which taught me the most amazing life lessons. I also volunteer for UPROSE for my passion in environmental justice. Currently, I am in the process of putting together a program for girls to build self esteem in learning how to sew and create fashion.
